STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
In May TSCHUDIN AG and the UNITED GRINDING Group are entering into a strategic partnership involving cross‐ownership. The aim is to provide their customers with even more comprehensive support by offering complementary grinding solutions and using shared sales networks.
-
Further strategic development
Foundation of the sales company TSCHUDIN (Shanghai) Co., Ltd in the Swiss Centers China on February 1. The TSCHUDIN employees in Shanghai are responsible for service and sales in the Chinese market.
New headquarters are opened in Grenchen on May 22 – a modern industrial building with five-storey office annex.
Presentation of the compact, centreless grinding machine CUBE 350 at the EMO in Hanover on September 19.
-
proLine 600
The TSCHUDIN proLine 600 celebrates its world premiere at the AMB in Stuttgart. A CUBE concept study is also presented.
-
proLine 400 CNC
Curtain call: The centreless grinding machine TSCHUDIN proLine 400 CNC is presented at the GrindTec in Augsburg.
-
New patent
The TSCHUDIN proLine system additionally features a 4th CNC axis (Y-axis, Patent US 9,085,059) to move the regulating wheel vertically in order to eliminate the need to adjust the workrest blade height. Automatic compensation functions will keep the grinding geometry consistent throughout the entire grinding process.
-
Angle head centerless grinding system
The ecoLine 410A CNC is presented – the angle head centerless grinding system for simultaneous grinding of diameters and large front surfaces.
-
USA Patent
The mobile workpiece axis (W axis) is also granted a patent in the USA.
-
Patented axis concept
The TSCHUDIN centreless grinding machines feature a new arrangement of the axes using a simplified concept (Patent EP 1330336 ). The slide of the grinding wheel spindle (U-axis), the regulating wheel spindle (X-axis) and the work rest support (W-axis) are designed as independent CNC axis.
-
Increase in productivity
TSCHUDIN forges ahead with automation and efficiency: An ecoLine CNC project with 4-track grinding and fully automatic production is realised for the first time.
-
Automation
The mobile workpiece axis (W axis) is granted a patent in Europe.
TSCHUDIN realises an ecoLine CNC project for the first time with fully automatic loading by a robot.
-
ecoLine CNC
Delivery of the first ecoLine CNC machine.
-
Advanced technology
TSCHUDIN develops the new ecoLine series of centreless grinding machines with a mobile workpiece axis (W axis). Linear motor technology is used for the first time instead of ball screws.
-
TC Line & GranitLine
Two new, innovative series are presented:
TC Line: The centreless grinding machine with electromechanical control is designed for machining small and medium-sized workpieces.
GranitLine: A machine bed made from natural granite and a 6-axis CNC control are two of the highlights of this centreless grinding machine, which is designed for medium-sized and large workpieces.
-
Focus on centerless grinding machine
The product group cylindrical grinding machines „between centers” is sold. TSCHUDIN AG now focuses entirely on centreless grinding.
-
Acquisition
TSCHUDIN grows by taking over the production of centreless grinding machines from the company Ernst Schäublin (ESO) in Oberdorf (Switzerland).

TSCHUDIN AG
Two years before the company was founded, in 1945, Hans Rudolf Tschudin worked for the company Schäublin SA in Bévilard (Switzerland) as a technical draughtsman in the Design Department.
During his work, he noticed that large machines were always used, even for the production of small parts. He began to consider the idea of developing a concept for more compact machines. Hans Rudolf Tschudin never lost sight of this idea: He bought a drawing board and got down to designing. In the following years, he developed the first prototypes for an external cylindrical grinding machine and founded TSCHUDIN AG in 1947.
